چکیده
To study the foraging activity of Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera: Apidae) on Cosmos sulphureus (Asteraceae) and to evaluate its impact fruits yields, C. capitula were observed Dang (Ngaoundéré, Cameroon) from September November 2016 August October 2017. Each year, observations made every day, 06.00 am 6.00 pm 540 divided in four treatments: 120 left free polliniation, protected insects ; 200 protected, then uncovered, exclusively visited by A. rebagged 100 uncovered without insect or any other organism visit. The behaviour capitula, pollination efficiency, fruiting rate, percentage mature achenes normal (well developed) evaluated. results show that among 10 species recorded after two seasons observation, was most represented with 95.57 % 1128 visits. This bee harvested intensely nectar pollen florets. akenes treatments unprotected significantly higher than those insects. Through efficiency a single capitule visit, increased 50.58 %, 14.37 40.52 respectively. installation colonies close fields is recommended increase honey as well production hive product.

Effects of Oxalic Acid on Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera: Apidae)
Abstract: Oxalic acid dihydrate is used to treat varroosis of Apis mellifera. This study investigates lethal and sublethal effects of oxalic acid dihydrate on individually treated honeybees kept in cages under laboratory conditions as well as the distribution in the colony. After oral application, bee mortality occurred at relatively low concentrations (No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL) ...
متن کاملPollination of tomatoes by the stingless bee Melipona quadrifasciata and the honey bee Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera, Apidae).
The pollination effectiveness of the stingless bee Melipona quadrifasciata and the honey bee Apis mellifera was tested in tomato plots. The experiment was conducted in four greenhouses as well as in an external open plot in Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil. The tomato plants were exposed to visits by M. quadrifasciata in one greenhouse and to A. mellifera in another; two greenhouses were maintained w...
متن کاملAssessing hygienic behavior of Apis mellifera unicolor (Hymenoptera: Apidae), the endemic honey bee from Madagascar.
Hygienic behavior (HB) is one of the natural mechanisms of honey bee for limiting the spread of brood diseases and Varroa destructor parasitic mite. Objective of our study was to measure HB of Apis mellifera unicolor colonies (N = 403) from three geographic regions (one infested and two free of V. destructor) in Madagascar. The pin-killing method was used for evaluation of the HB. Responses wer...
متن کاملNonsusceptibility of the Honey Bee, Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera: Apidae), to Steinernematid and Heterorhabditid Nematodes.
We exposed honey bee workers and brood to four entomopathogenic nematode species under conditions normally encountered in the hive by spraying nematodes onto combs. Mortality of adult bees exposed to any of the nematode species was less than 10%, and there was no evidence of nematode infection when dead adults were dissected. To assess the impact of nematodes on brood, we used smaller-size hone...
متن کاملProteomic analysis in the Dufour’s gland of Africanized Apis mellifera workers (Hymenoptera: Apidae)
The colony of eusocial bee Apis mellifera has a reproductive queen and sterile workers performing tasks such as brood care and foraging. Chemical communication plays a crucial role in the maintenance of sociability in bees with many compounds released by the exocrine glands. The Dufour's gland is a non-paired gland associated with the sting apparatus with important functions in the communicatio...
